Gillespie Back in Donofrio Action

Villanova’s newest signee, Class of 2017 guard, Collin Gillespie bounced back quickly from a hard hit, injury to the ribs earlier this week to help lead “Just Clean It” to a 110-80 victory over Positive Image II in the Quarterfinals of the 2017 Donofrio Classic this evening in Conshohocken PA.

Gillespie’s unofficial stat line, in what was a rather “chippy” affair, was 14 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and one technical foul.  In a brief post-game conversation, Gillespie confirmed with VUSports that his ribs are fine after the injury earlier in the week.  He was the recipient of a hard foul in the first half of this evening's game while going in for a dunk attempt.  Gillespie was later given a technical foul for a verbal response to some additional “chippy” play from Positive Image II.  Gillespie and his Archbishop Wood teammate, Tyree Pickron were instrumental in the “Just Clean It” victory.  The technical led to Gillespie sitting out a decent portion of the first half and limiting his stat line.

“Just Clean It” will face Team Philly at 7:00 P.M. in the Semifinals at Fellowship House in Conshohocken.  The winner advances to the Tuesday night Championship Game (April 18, 7:30 P.M.) Top Stories
