Villanova formally announced today that Jalen Brunson will return to school for his Junior season.  The point guard will not be participating in the pre-NBA Draft process or be leaving school early.

Formal release from Villanova:

VILLANOVA, Pa – Jalen Brunson will return to Villanova in 2017-18, it was announced today.

The 6-2 Brunson (Lincolnshire, Ill.) completed a terrific sophomore season in 2016-17, earning first team All-BIG EAST and All-Philadelphia Big Five honors while also gaining notice as a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation’s top point guard. In addition, Brunson was named the Philadelphia Big Five Scholar Athlete of the Year.

“Jalen is an outstanding student who loves being at Villanova and wants to complete his degree by the end of his junior year,” stated Wildcats head coach Jay Wright. “This was a simple decision made by Jalen’s family. Jalen wants to graduate, be a leader on this year’s team, and compete for a championship.”

Brunson averaged 14.7 points and 4.1 assists per game while helping the Wildcats to the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles.
