Friday Night AAU Highlights

First some results from Nike EYBL in Hampton:

Team Final pounded Mac Irvin Fire, 89-64. Cameron Reddish racked up 26 points on 7-16 shooting from the floor, 8-8 from the FT line and 2-8 from three-point range.  He also grabbed 7 boards to go with 3 pilfers and a blocked shot in 30 minutes of play.  Mikeal Jones added 10 for Team Final on 3-5 shooting from the field and 4-4 free-throws to go with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.  Matthue Cotton scored 8 on 2-5 shooting, 3-3 from the line and 1-1 beyond the arc along with 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 turnover.

Cole Swider helped BABC put away Team United (72-50) with 17 points in 20 minutes of game action.  Swider dropped in three three-pointers and canned 3-6 from inside the arc to go with a 2-2 performance at the charity stripe.  He was active on the boards grabbing six rebounds to go with one assist and one steal.

Playaz Club edged RM5 Elite by a score of 70-69 despite an off night shooting the basketball by Jalen Carey.  Carey played 26 minutes but tallied only 6 points on 2-14 shooting from the floor, 1-4 from the FT line and 1-3 from beyond the arc.  He also added three rebounds and one turnover to the boxscore.

Team Takeover got started in 2017 EYBL action with a 79-70 win over Southern Stampede.  Takeover got solid performances from Brandon Slater and Jalen Smith.  Slater had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers, 1 steal, 1 block on 5-10 shooting from the floor, 5-9 from the FT line and 0-3 beyond the arc.  Not a great shooting night but he contributed across the board.   Smith scored 13 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and blocked one shot.  He also committed four turnovers while shooting 5-8 from the floor, 3-4 from the line and 0-1 from three-point range.

In a 65-62 win for the City Rocks over Howard Pulley, Joe Girard III made his lone three point attempt on his way to a 3 point, 2 rebound, 1 assist, 3 turnover box score line.

Team Penny dispatched of Expression Elite (80-72) with help from an efficient 18 point performance from Ryan Boyce.  Boyce shot 7-9 from the floor and 4-5 from the stripe.  He also tallied 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, 3 steals and 1 block.

The PSA Cardinals ground out a win over Nike Phamily by a score of 52-48.  Cole Anthony was held to 3 points on 1-2 shooting from two-point range, 1-2 free-throws and 0-2 three-pointers.  He pulled in two rebounds, dished out 3 assists and committed four turnovers.  Hameir Wright had a rather lackluster game as he scored 3 points on 1-4 shooting from two point range, 1-1 free throws, 0-2 three-pointers, 2 rebounds, 1 assists, 3 turnovers and 1 steal.

In a squeaker, it was The Rens edging Las Vegas Prospects 57-55 with Cormac Ryan scoring 13 points on 5-16 shooting from the floor and 3-10 from beyond the arc.  Ryan posted 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 turnovers, and 4 steals as well.  His teammate, Bryce Wills contributed 7 points on 2-4 from the floor and 3-6 from the free-throw line to go with 2 boards, 1 assist, 2 turnovers, and 2 blocks.  Kofi Cockburn contributed 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Team Melo fell to CIA Bounce, 47-45, with Brendan Adams scoring 8 points in a losing cause on 2-9 from the floor, 4-4 free-throws and 0-3 from three-point range.  He did gather up six rebounds and dish out 1 assist.  Noah Locke was the high scorer for Team Melo with 10 points on 5-10 shooting overall, 0-3 from the FT line and 0-3 from beyond the arc.  Locke had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 turnovers and 2 steals.

Meanwhile in NY for the Under Armour event:

Team Rio took down Sports U, 60-57.  Bryan Antoine led the charge for the winners with 19 points on 6-14 shooting from the floor, 2-4 3PFG, and 5-6 FT.  He pulled down 4 rebounds, grabbed 3 steals and committed only 1 turnover.  His running mate, Scottie Lewis scored 6 points on 2-6 FG, 0-1 3PFG and 2-4 FT to go with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers and a blocked shot.  Lewis played only 11 minutes due to foul difficulites.  For the losers, it was Jahvon Quinerly starring with 15 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3PFG, 5-6 FT), 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 turnovers, and 2 steals in 30 minutes of action.  Nazreon Reid posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.  He shot 4-6 from the floor, 1-2 beyond the arc and 3-4 at the stripe.  

In other NY action, Team Breakdown took care of Grassroots Sizzle, 65-57 with Elijah Weaver contributing 11 points (4-11 FG, 1-7 3PFG, 2-2 FT), 4 assists, 1 turnover and 3 steals in 32 minutes of play.

DC Premier defeated Team Charlotte, 60-58 with Devon Dotson scoring double figures for Team Charlotte and Prentiss Hubb (held scoreless in the first half) serving as a facilitator for Saddiq Bey and Jermaine Harris as that duo combined to post 37 points for DC Premier.

Lastly out in Dallas at the Adidas Event:

Team Loaded drilled the Colorado Hawks, 87-65 with Rasir Bolton dropping in 11 for the winners and dishing out 5 assists.
