Villanova Prospect EYBL Sat Highlights

VUSports takes a look at some of the highlights and happenings from EYBL ATL games of Saturday featuring Villanova basketball prospects ...

Cormac Ryan had 21 points (10-17 FG, 0-1 FT, 1-6 3PFG), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, in a loss to The Family.  Kofi Cockburn, with 10 points (5-8 FG), 6 rebounds, and 1 block, was also a key contributor for the Rens.

Jalen Carey had a consistently solid day at the gym - he posted 20 points (7-15 FG, 4-8 FT, 2-5 3PFG), 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 TOs in a Playaz loss to Indy Speice in his first game of the day and then in his night-cap game he poured in 20 more (7-14, 4-5, 2-5) to go with 5 more rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in a Playaz win over Oakland Soldiers.

Cole Anthony led PSA Cardinals with 25 points (6-15 FG, 12-13 FT, 1-3 3PFG), 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals, 3 TOs in a win over Houston Hoops.  Jake Forrester added 8 points (3-6 FG, 2-4 FT), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block for the winners.

Team Takeover beat Nike South Beach, 78-70 in a morning game as Jalen Smith scored 9 points and grabbed 3 boards.  He shot 4-6 from the floor and 1-1 FTs.  Brandon Slater shot 2-4 from the floor, 3-4 from the line and 0-1 beyond the arc on his way to a 7 point, 4 rebound, 2 assist outing.  Team Takeover then beat Seattle Rotary in their second game of the day with Brandon Slater posting 14 points and Jalen Smith is listed in the box score with only 1 rebound and no points..

In a BABC loss to Boo Williams, Cole Swider tallied 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 TOs on 3-6 FGs, 5-5 FTs, and 2-3 3PFGs.

In a showdown between prime prospects Marvin Bagley III and Cameron Reddish, it was Reddish leading Team Final to a win with a 35 point, 9 rebound, 3 assist, 4 turnover, 1 steal performance.  Reddish made 11-30 from the floor, 9-9 FT, and 4-10 3PFG.

R.J. Barrett remained hot with a 41 point (10-18 FG, 18-25 FT, 3-5 3PFG) and 13 rebound performance in a UPLAY Canada win over Team United.

In an evening win over The Family, Cole Anthony scored 22 points, dished out 10 assists, pulled in 5 rebounds, and grabbed 4 steals.  He drained 9-12 FGs, 2-2 FTs and 2-2 3PFG.  Anthony has been highly productive in EYBL play so far this spring.  Last season he played off the ball more with Quade Green running the point for the Cards - this season it has been Anthony's show and he has stepped up in fine fashion.  Jake Forrester chipped in with a solid game for PSA Cards as well - he scored 18 points (8-9 FG, 2-2 FT), collected 9 rebounds and blocked 1 shot.

BABC defeated Nike Team FL on a thrilling, buzzer-beating three ball from the left wing (77-74) after a missed free throw in a tie game with 3.5 seconds remaining.  Cole Swider tallied 20 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals to contribute to the BABC win.  He shot 7-19 FG, 4-4 FT, and 2-13 3PFG.  Though he had only 3 fouls, he was swapped out continually in offensive/defensive substitutions in the closing three or four minutes of the game.  It is a little concerning that his AAU Coach may view his defense as a liability down the stretch in a close game.

The Rens got 7 points and 11 rebounds of production out of Kofi Cockburn in an evening win over All Ohio Red.
