A trio of Hokies named to Maxwell, Bednarik watch lists

McMillian, Ford and Clark named to watch lists for Maxwell and Bednarik awards.

Earlier today, the Maxwell Football Club announced two preseason award watch lists: The Bednarik and Maxwell Awards. Virginia Tech was represented by three players between the two awards.

Travon McMillan and Isaiah Ford represented the Hokies on the Maxwell Award watch list, which is given annually to the nation's top collegiate player. McMillan is a redshirt sophomore running back, who sprung onto the scene last season after rushing for over 1,000 yards. He averaged just over 80 yards a game last season.

Ford's presence on the list is no surprise after the success he found on the field last season. Ford broke the all-time VT single-season touchdown record and most receiving yards in a season last year, with 11 TDs and 1,164 yards, respectively.

Virginia Tech's lone representative on the Bednarik Award watch list is senior free-safety Chuck Clark. Clark started all 13 games for the Hokies last season, and had 107 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one interception. He returned the fumble for a 20-yard touchdown against Purdue, a game Virginia Tech ended up winning 51-24.

Below is a list of ACC players that are on the two award watch lists:
