There's still one more season where he'll bide his time. Don Bosco Prep (NJ) 2020 quarterback Roman Purcell will likely serve as his team's backup this fall, behind Syracuse commitment Tommy DeVito. But after that, Purcell could have a lock on the starting job.
With that, plenty of offers could be on the way. In the meantime, more and more schools are becoming aware of Purcell.
One of those is Virginia Tech, where Purcell camped July 24. That marked his first visit to Blacksburg and gave him a good chance to spend more time with the Hokies' coaching staff.
"I had a couple of good, long talks with Coach (Brad) Cornelsen," Purcell said. "And I had a good talk with Coach Fuente, so hopefully, it all ends well."
