ACC, SEC programs vying for three-star WR Austin Connor

Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork wide receiver Austin Connor has narrowed his focus to four schools and gave Scout the latest.

"The schools I'm still considering are South CarolinaVirginia TechGeorgia and Vanderbilt," Austin Connor said.

"I actually want to commit on or before my birthday, which is Sept. 22.

What does he like about each school?

South Carolina: "It's close to home and it feels like home when I visit," said the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Connor. "I also like the coaching staff and the players."

Virginia Tech: "They were my first offer and they've showed me a lot of love since that time. The coaching staff is a great and I love the atmosphere in Blacksburg."

Georgia: "It's Georgia, so it's got a great reputation and it's a great program. And I feel like coach (Kirby) Smart is going to do a great job."

Vanderbilt: "When I went to Nashville to visit, I fell in love with it. The coaches are also nice and straightforward. And I was impressed with the academics, too."

Although he has not scheduled the trip yet, Connor knows one school that will get an official visit.

"I've been to the other three schools multiple times, but only been to Georgia once," he said. "I loved it and want to go down there again, so I can spend more time with the coaches and players."

When it comes time for him to make his commitment, there will be a few main factors that go into the decision.

"I want to go to a school that has an engineering program and a place that will best prepare me for the future," Connor said. "Obviously, the NFL is a big dream for everyone who plays football, so I'd like to also go to a program that will help me get there."
