Harrison Hand, the top cornerback in the New Jersey, set his first official visit and could make a second in early October.
"We're going to (Virginia Tech) on Sept. 17 and hopefully Rutgers on Oct. 8," Hand's mom, Denise, told Scout.
The 5-foot-11 1/2, 183-pound Hand has the ability to make in-season official visits because of the proximity of Cherry Hill West with some of the schools high on his list. Hand does not have a game scheduled on a Saturday after Oct. 1 which means he could travel early Saturday to start an official visit if he does not want to wait until after his senior season.
In looking at his recruitment, Hand recently told Scout a few of the important factors that will go into his decision.
"You have to have somewhere that feels home to you," Hand said. "It's not just the school, but the coaches and the players. Are they someone you can be around every day?
"Also, people that have your back. You can go anywhere and take care of yourself and do your school work and focus on that. But say you are falling off and you need help, you need someone who would have your back on it. That's an important thing I think of."
