Coach Justin Fuente talked about it after the Hokies arrived back in their locker room Saturday, following a 45-24 loss to Tennessee in the most attended football game on record, the Battle at Bristol. The players talked about it, mentioned it at their post-game press conference. They mentioned it again Monday.
Something just wasn't right when they practiced last week. And in many ways, that was to blame for the way Virginia Tech crashed like a car on Bristol Motor Speedway's race track.
Now that they've identified something as wrong, they have to fix it. And Fuente swears that's what he and his staff will do.
"There's a lot that goes into that and that's up to up to get fixed," Fuente said. "Through our leadership on the team, through our coaching staff, we have to have better preparation. I wasn't happy with it during the week and I told those kids that, particularly early in the week. I'm optimistic that they'll listen and they saw the results of that and we'll have a better week, this week."
