Bud Foster Talks Scot Loeffler, Facing BC

Defensive coordinator Bud Foster and the Hokies will face a familiar foe Saturday, as former offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler returns to Lane Stadium.

For many of Virginia Tech's players on offense, they learned how to do a number of things through Loeffler. They learned packages, schemes and even made themselves better in a number of ways, when Loeffler served as the Hokies' offensive coordinator the past three seasons.

For Foster, it's a familiar look, too. After all, Foster faced an offense run by Loeffler in each practice over the last three seasons.

Loeffler returns to Lane Stadium Saturday, as offensive coordinator for Boston College. There will be some adjustments, an obviously, different personnel than what he's seen, but Foster certainly imagines a challenge, as he got during all those practices.

"I look forward to the competition," Foster said. "Do I look forward to that battle with him? Not necessarily, because of our friendship. But he's gonna prepare and I'm gonna prepare. I do know this, Scot's a tremendous football coach, one of the smarter guys that I've been around, extremely knowledgeable, a great quarterback coach, an outstanding coordinator. He's got a lot of great ideas.

I enjoyed working with Scot here and we're gonna have our hands full."
