Virginia Tech uses big plays on offense, defense & special teams in a 54-17 demolition of East Carolina.

For the second week in a row, Virginia Tech got going early and never looked back, this time in a 54-17 rout of East Carolina We go over the win and what stood out.

It's been a while since Virginia Tech had a blocked kick. Three years to be exact. And in one quarter Saturday, the Hokies had two.

Special teams has been an area that coach Justin Fuente has stressed since he arrived in Blacksburg in November. And against East Carolina, it was apparent why. Virginia Tech had a blocked field goal, a blocked punt, a punt return for a touchdown and a muffed punt return in a 54-17 romp over the Pirates Saturday.

The Hokies could have an ill-timed bye next week, with plenty of momentum going in all three facets of the game. They got a safety on defense and 462 yards on offense. But on Saturday, Virginia Tech's potential in all three areas was on display.
