"It was a great trip," said the 6-foot-3, 225-pound DeBose. "We were able to see the facilities and listen to the staff talk about education. Then we walked on the field with the players for pregame warmups. And after the game, we had a chance to listen to coach (Justin) Fuente talk to the players. which was pretty good."
What was his favorite part of the trip?
"The atmosphere was crazy," DeBose said. "They executed when they needed to and just played well overall. I was also really impressed with their front seven."
While in Blacksburg, he spent the most time with two specific coaches.
"I talked to (defensive line) coach (Charley) Wiles and (tight ends) coach (James) Shibest the most," DeBose said. "They both said they were talking about me and watching my film all week, Coach Wiles said he has it on the schedule to come see me play. They didn't say if they were going to offer, but they said that they were real serious about me. So, I feel like an offer could come at some point."
He hopes to visit again.
"I wanted to go back up to their game against Miami (Oct. 20), but that's the day before one of my games, so I don't know if I'll be able to make it. But I'll most likely visit again."
Despite the visit, DeBose reiterated that he is firmly committed to Appalachian State.
