North Carolina has been quite successful the past two seasons. It finished 10-3 last season and was ranked as high as No. 8 by the Associated Press.
After a 37-35 last-second win Saturday at Florida State, the Tar Heels are back in the national rankings, at No. 17 by the AP. And by virtue of others losing Saturday, Virginia Tech is back in the AP poll, at No. 25, despite a bye this past weekend.
But with North Carolina's run of success, the Hokies feel like they might be getting overlooked. The Tar Heels won at Virginia Tech last season in coach Frank Beamer's final home game as coach.
"We were unranked this past week, just barely snuck into the rankings this week," senior guard Augie Conte said. "They're ranked pretty high now and they went to the ACC championship last year, almost beat, probably should have beat, somebody who played for the national championship, so they've got a lot of confidence right now. They probably haven't thought about us a whole lot. So, just from that perspective, they just probably haven't given us a whole lot of thought."
