ACC programs first to show interest in 2019 WR Tayvion Robinson

Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox wide receiver Tayvion Robinson has established himself as one of the top 2019 prospects in the Tidewater region of Virginia and he spoke with Scout about his recruitment.

Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox wide receiever Tayvion Robinson turned heads last fall as a freshman.

Now a sophomore, his recruitment is beginning to pick up steam.

"The schools that are showing interest are Virginia TechVirginiaNC State and Clemson," said the 6-foot, 170-pound Robinson.

Which school could be first to offer?

"I think it might be Virginia Tech," Robinson said. "I have a good relationship with (running backs) coach (Zohn) Burden. He seems really interested in me and we have been talking for a while. He's a cool coach.

"They're also a school that is close to home and I like how they play. That will also probably be my next visit, but I don't have a date yet. I'm looking forward to learning more about the academics and football program."

Another school he hopes to get to in the near future is Clemson.

"I have a teammate (2017 defensive lineman Jordan Williams) that is committed there, so I'm going to try to go down with him. Hopefully, I'll be able to spend some time with the coaches and see the facilities.

"The coach I've spoken with is (defensive coordinator) coach Brent Venables. I really like him and he's a very good coach. They're a program that has had a lot of success and that definitely stands out."

Cox is currently 8-1 and Robinson is hoping the Falcons can have a strong finish to the 2016 season.

"We want to go as far as we can," he said. "We have to take it week by week and work as hard as possible."
