Evaluation: The biggest question regarding class of 2018 quarterback DeJuan Ellis is whether he has the size to play quarterback in college.
Virginia Tech thinks so, and took a commitment from the Mc Donogh School standout in August. Ellis is 6-foot, 160 pounds, and an electric athlete who can make people miss in tight space. He brings dual-threat capabilities to an offense, and his change of direction and acceleration creates problems for defenses.
In the throwing game, he gets rid of the ball quickly, and he throws from high, which helps mitigate some of the concerns with his size.
But because of Ellis' skill set and size, do not be surprised if one day he moves to cornerback. He has the hips and feet to play the position, and he could be a dominant cornerback in college.
