Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale freshman running back Chris Tyree is already generating a significant amount interest on the recruiting trail.
Marshall was the first school to offer.
"I definitely wasn't expecting the offer, but it felt great when it happened," said the 5-foot-10, 160-pound Tyree. "I'm excited to learn more about them. I'm going to visit at some point, but I'm not sure when yet."
Virginia Tech was next to pull the trigger.
"Everybody loves Virginia Tech, so I was amazed when I got the offer," Tyree said. "I visited recently for the Georgia Tech game and it was a good overall trip. I was really impressed with the fans and atmosphere.
"I spoke with (running backs) coach (Zohn) Burden and (safeties) coach (Galen) Scott. They just told me they were excited about me and were going to watch me throughout my high school career. The staff is real cool and they treat you like family."
In seven games this season, Tyree carried the ball 101 times for 716 yards and seven touchdowns, caught five passes for 81 yards, and returned a kickoff for a score. Defensively, he had 22 tackles, an interception, 11 pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
