Richmond (Va.) Benedictine junior outside linebacker Wendell Davis' stock is rising.
Multiple programs are showing significant interest in the Davis.
"I recently received an offer from Charlotte," said the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Davis. "Virginia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke and Boston College are also recruiting me. But I'm open to all schools."
According to Davis, Duke, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are recruiting him hardest, and he gave a quick thought on each.
Duke: "I like what coach (David) Cutcliffe has done with the program," Davis said. "He's really turned the program around."
North Carolina: "They've always been a really good team, but they've started to become one of better programs in the country recently. I also like the way their defense plays."
Virginia Tech: "I like (defensive coordinator) coach (Bud) Foster a lot and their defensive scheme. It's fun to watch them play."
His most recent visit was to Duke for their game against Virginia.
"I really enjoyed myself," Davis said. "I like the coaches and enjoyed meeting them. I also enjoyed watching the game and the atmosphere was great. I'm planning to go back soon -- probably for a junior day.
"I spent the most time talking with (running backs) coach (Re'quan) Boyette and he always stays in contact. He's a really nice guy and I like him a lot."
His next stop will be Virginia Tech on Jan. 15.
"I visited last summer for a camp, so I'm excited to go back," Davis said. "I'm looking forward to seeing what Virginia Tech has to offer. I'm also looking forward to speaking with the coaches.
"The coach I talk to the most is coach Bud Foster. I really like him as a coach and as a person. I learned a lot from him at camp last summer. He's a great teacher."
Along with Duke and Virginia Tech, Davis mentioned North Carolina and Boston College as possible visits this spring.
