Altrique Barlow performed very well as a freshman last fall.
Due to his high level of play, the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Barlow already has a scholarship offer.
"Virginia Tech has offered and it's an amazing feeling," Barlow said. "It makes me want to work even harder and I'm ready to get better during the offseason. It's a good school and I've heard they treat you like family.
"(Running backs) coach (Zohn) Burden is recruiting me and he's a really nice guy. He's asked me to come visit, so hopefully I'll be able to go up for a junior day or spring practice."
Barlow emphasized that he is open to all schools, but mentioned a few specific programs he hoped show interest in the near future.
"It's a nice school and I enjoyed the trip," Barlow said. "The stadium is nice and I enjoyed watching them play. The coaches are also friendly and I enjoyed talking to them."
Besides Virginia Tech, Barlow said he hopes to visit Miami, Florida and Florida State this spring.
