Four-star guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker is excited to get to Virginia Tech

KETTERING, Ohio - Future Virginia Tech Hokie Nickel Alexander-Walker is having a big senior season, and is looking forward to joining Buzz Williams at Virginia Tech.

The Virginia Tech Hokies have brought in one of the most talented backcourt classes in 2017. One of the key pieces of that is Nickeil Alexander-Walker. The Canadian native is headed to Blacksburg next season, and is ready to make a major impact.

A combo guard who can do a little bit of everything, Alexander-Walker is having a very strong senior season for Hamilton Heights this year.

“I feel like I am getting stronger,” said Alexander-Walker of his improvement as a senior. “I am also using ball screens better and seeing the floor better while being more efficient and getting to the foul line more.”

With his future in Blacksburg, Alexander-Walker is excited, and talks to Coach Buzz Williams about his role, and what to expect right away with the Hokies.

“Coach has been talking to me about what he wants his point guard to do,” said Alexander-Walker. “I am coming in to fill in and take over for Seth Allen. I am going to play up to four positions because coach plays a small lineup.”

According to Alexander-Walker, it is his versatility that has Williams and his staff so excited, “He likes that I am versatile and that I can score on the post against smaller guards, or that I can play in a smaller lineup and take advantage of slower defenders with my quickness.”

While Virginia Tech is excited to have a top talent like Alexander-Walker coming in, he is also excited about what he has seen from the Hokies this season.

“It is exciting to see them playing so well,” said Alexander-Walker of Virginia Tech. “It brings excitement to me, because I know I am coming in and being a part of that.”
