Coach Buzz Williams recaps Virginia Tech's 85-79 win over Boston College

The Hokies are above .500 halfway through ACC play, but the back half of the schedule won't get any easier, as coach Buzz Williams pointed out after the Hokies' win on Sunday.

Boston College hasn't won a road game, of any kind, in nearly two years. It last happened in March of 2015, coach Buzz Williams' first season at Virginia Tech.

But on Sunday night, the Eagles nearly pulled out a victory. They erased an 18-point first half deficit to get to within one in the final minutes, though they never led in the game.

Still, for Williams, it was exhibit A of what's been an entertaining, but grueling ACC schedule. The Hokies are 5-4 in the conference, 16-5 overall, but have a tough stretch still upcoming, with games at Virginia, Miami, Pittsburgh and Louisville, with a home game against the Cavaliers sandwiched in between.

"I’m thankful," Williams said. "16-5, 5-4, (I’m) encouraged. But I also understand what’s coming in the month of February. I was just telling our guys this, this year, it will go down as this is the best league in one single year in the history of college basketball.

"The thing that we have to be able to do is be grateful for today’s win and tomorrow, manage their brains and their bodies the right way, relative to preparing for Virginia, Tuesday have a real practice and we have to within each day, try to figure out how to get just a little bit better."
