Three-star defensive end Zion DeBose signs with Virginia Tech

DeBose rounds out the Hokies' 2017 recruiting class with his commitment and national letter of intent Friday afternoon.

In this case, it's certainly better late than never.

While the majority of football recruits that are high school seniors sign their national letters of intent on the first Wednesday of February, also known as National Signing Day, it's not a necessity. North Rowan (NC) three-star defensive end Zion DeBose wanted to wait.

Today, DeBose was ready and made not only his announcement, but signed his letter as well. He's headed to Blacksburg. DeBose waited until today in order to make his decision special for his mother, whose birthday is today.

DeBose chose Virginia Tech out of a top four that consisted of Missouri, Illinois and Pittsburgh. He was recruited primarily by assistant coach Charley Wiles.

The 2017 class is now complete, barring a late addition this spring. The Hokies have 27 members of the class, which ranks No. 20 according to Scout.com's rankings.
