Burrell talks UVa junior day

Over the weekend, Matthew Burrell attended Virginia's junior day. Following the visit, the four-star Woodbridge (Va.) Hylton offensive tackle spoke with Scout.com.

"It was a great visit," said Matthew Burrell. "I've built a good relationship with coach (Mike) London over the years, so it was good to talk to him and to see where he thinks the program is going.

"He had a lot of positive things to say. He told me he had a young team, but that they have a lot coming back. He also said if I were to come to UVa and did everything I was supposed to do, I'd get a shot to play early. He said that goes for anybody, though, because they're going to play the best players."

He enjoyed watching practice.

"The practice was a lot of fun," said the 6-foot-6, 285-pound Burrell. "There was a positive vibe from the players to the coaches. I enjoyed watching the offensive and defensive lineman compete against each other. They practiced very hard and were very passionate.

"(Offensive line) coach (Scott) Wachenheim – he's a great coach. He works hard with them on their technique and is very hands-on. He's just a great coach and I like him a lot."

While in Charlottesville, the nation's 5th-ranked offensive tackle also bonded with the other recruits.

"I enjoyed just being able to hang out with the guys I've gotten to know over the years," Burrell said. "The fact that a lot of us are Virginia kids, it was cool to sit together and watch the (basketball) game – and watch Virginia get a victory."

Burrell is also looking forward to taking some more trips this spring. Other possible visits include Alabama, Florida State and Notre Dame.

In regards to his recruitment, the Hylton standout remains wide open and claims no favorites at this time.
