The past two seasons the Cavaliers have suffered several heartbreaks, losing eight games by eight points or less since last season.
“It’s always tough to lose any game that you lose,” the fifth-year senior cornerback Demetrious Nicholson. “But just being in plenty of those situations and knowing my first year that we came out on the positive end, and these past couple years we’ve been on the negative end, it’s been really tough to swallow.
"We've been that close to winning a lot of games that people counted us out on," Nicholson added, "we just couldn't finish."
Nicholson and the Cavaliers will need to finish this weekend. UVA is traveling to Louisville in hopes of recording its first road game win in over 1100 days. Virginia is 3-6 on the year, and will need to win the final three games of the season in order to become bow eligible.
“We definitely addressed it after the past game we just lost, and we decided that our mission is to win out, and we can’t think too far ahead,” said Nicholson. "Just preparing as much as we can, like we’ve been doing, and finishing games and staying together as a team to get this game.”
There is no doubt Mike London is on the hot seat. The UVA head coach is on the hot seat, and Nicholson admits he "wants to win for Coach London." However he also says he wants to the win for "ourselves and the program" as well.
