Virginia men's basketball is on to the Charleston Classic finals. The Cavaliers beat Long Beach State 87-52 on Friday night to move on in the tournament.
After trailing by four early on in the game, UVA went on a 19-2 run to take the lead and then closed out the first half by keeping the 49ers scoreless 6:42 minutes. The Wahoos took a 41-23 lead into the locker rooms, and the second half would be much of the same for the Cavs. Virginia started the half on a 14-0 run and ran the momentum all the way to the win.
Marial Shayok had another career night for the 'Hoos. Shayok led Virginia with a career-best 17 points, while four other Cavs finished with double digits - London Perrantes (17), Devon Hall (12), Anthony Gill (11) and Malcolm Brogdon (10). UVA also hit a season-high 12 three-pointers.
Virginia will hope to bring home the tournament title on Sunday night. Tony Bennett and the Wahoos will face George Mason for the Classic crown. Tip off is scheduled for 9:30 P.M.
