No. 12 UVA Hoops Tops Lehigh at Home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-- No. 12 Virginia men's basketball tops Lehigh at home 80-54 to move to 5-1 on the year.

The No. 12 Virginia men's basketball made it four straight wins on Wednesday after beating Lehigh 80-54 at the John Paul Jones Arena. Malcolm Brogdon once again finished with double figures, leading the team with 23 points going 10-of-15.

The Mountain Hawks gave the Cavaliers a run for their money early on. The Cavaliers were able to go ahead after a 11-3 run but Lehigh stuck around. The visitors were able to take back the lead twice more in the first half, after UVA's hot offensive start turned cold. With 4:53 to go in the first,  Jesse Chuku's triple took advantage of a four minute UVA scoring drought to put Lehigh up by one. However, the 'Hoos closed out the half strong. Mike Tobey's slam ended the five minute Cavalier drought. The Cavs ended the half shooting 5 of 7 to take a 35-28 lead into the break.

It wasn't the best start for the Wahoos in the second half, however. The Cavs turned over the ball twice in their first two possessions and Lehigh came within five. It also took almost four minutes for the 'Hoos to score in the second period.  Darius Thompson - who had 12 points off the bench -  beat the shot clock with a triple to put the Cavs ahead by eight. Thompson's three ignited a 11-0 run by Virginia and the 'Hoos began to pull away from the Mountain Hawks, who in turn struggled from the field. The 'Hoos never lost control again.

The Cavaliers will now turn their attention to Ohio State. The 'Hoos will face the Buckeyes in ACC/Big Ten Challenge next Tuesday.
