Virginia men's basketball Head Coach Tony Bennett discusses the 'Hoos next game against Ohio State and more.

Teleconference Notes

Anthony Gill Improvement: Bennett says Gill has made plenty of strides defensively. He says that his recognition has improved and he has made big gains on an on-ball defender. He adds that he wants Gill to continue to get better on the off the ball defense.

Ohio State Games to Date: Bennett says Ohio State is very talented and athletic but he says they are young and very inexperienced. "It's just a matter of time" before they get it.

On Jaquan Lyle: "He is so smooth," said Bennett. The UVa head coach also mentions that he was very efficient in his last game and is a gifted player and it's only a matter of time before he figures things out as well.

Where the team is right now? Bennett says he has told the team where they are right now, He says first they need to be better defensively because there so many more talented players at multiple positions and offensively. Bennett adds team will be ready for them because not only are they ranked, but they are also in the ACC where the national champions came from. He says the discipline and their relentlessness needs to continue as the season goes on. They need to be good defensively and make sure to get the ball to the right guy so they have the best shot.

On Rotations: Devon, Darius, Malcolm, Marial  and London are playing the perimeter. He notes Evan Nolte has moved out from the rotation and starting line up right now, and he hasn't seen much playing time, however, Bennett adds that could change. He adds the post pairing are still work in progress. Bennett says he always look to have a mobil defender which then dictates what he does in the rotation.
