Virginia football officially has a new leader. Bronco Mendenhall was introduced as the new head coach during Monday's press conference.
"We were able to find a coach who indeed fit the University of Virginia in our opinion," said UVA athletic director Craig Littlepage, "and who was able to fulfill the requirements that we are going to have in a new head football coach."
Littlepage and the Cavaliers narrowed it down to a pool of candidates, which included Mendenhall. Littlepage said it was the moment he met with Mendenhall face-to-face last week that he realized he was the right man for the job in Charlottesville.
"We listened and listened intently as he talked about his visiion, he talked about his strategic plan, He talked about successful leadership organizations outside of football, and then he was able to connect and translate all those things into how that would help in terms of developing a successful football program.
"It became increasingly evident that our new head coach was sitting right in front of us."
Littlepage disucsses the decision further in the video above.
