Mendenhall's Staff is Coming Together

Bronco Mendenhall's staff is coming together. A look at where things stand with the Virginia staff.

Over the course of the last week, Bronco Mendenhall has been slowly putting together his staff. The Virginia head coach nor the University has not made any official announcement.

Here is the latest on the staff:

Offense

Coordinator: Robert Anae

Offensive Line: Garett Tujague

Running Backs: Mark Atuaia

Quarterback: Jason Beck

Wide Receivers: Marques Hagans

As HooNation.com reported on Thursday, sources were saying Hagans would be retained by Mendenhall. He is expected to hit the recruiting trail this weekend before the dead period starts. One of the commits he is expected to see is Laderrien Wilson, who is eyeing Georgia Tech a lot this month.

Chris Beatty, the running backs coach this year for UVA, does not look like he will stay. Syracuse could be a likely stop.

UPDATE: Beatty to Cuse is being reported by Sports Illustrated on Friday morning.

UPDATE:HooNation has confirmed Chris Beatty to Syracuse.

Defense

Coordinator: Nick Howell (according to a report by footballscoop). We could see him coaching DBs.

Linebackers: Kelly Poppinga

Special Teams

Coordinator: Kelly Poppinga (according to a report by footballscoop)

As far as who could join the defensive staff, former Maryland defensive line coach Chad Wilt continues to be a name to watch. The Terps could offer him a role coaching the linebackers under their new staff, however, sources close to Wilt still say he wants to return to Virginia, where he coached before. It is no secret that it would be great for the Cavalier staff to have another assistant with a connection to the east region.
