For the sixth time this season, the Virginia men's basketball team recorded over 80 points to secure a win. The Cavaliers beat No. 12 Villanova 86-75 to record its ninth win of the season.
This was an evenly matched game from the get go. The first half saw three lead changes and it was not until about seven minutes left in the period, where the Cavaliers' depth allowed the Cavs to create some distance. The 'Hoos went on a 11-0 run and kept Villanova off the board for over four minutes to move ahead by seven. The Wildcats kept things close, as UVA struggled handling the ball early, recording nine turnovers. At the break Virginia led the visitors 33-29.
Nova, however, did not take long to claw back from their six point defecit. A triple by Kris Jenkins followed by three field throws gave them the one point lead. The 'Hoos and the Wildcats traded the lead twice before London Perrantes took control. The Cavs put together a quick 9-0 run in 1:21 with just over 11 minutes to go with Malcolm Brogdon and Perrantes hitting back-to-back triples and Perrantes recording a one and one. The Cavaliers' quickly put togehter a 14-0 run with Nova suffering a 4:39 scoring drought. The 'Hoos went from behind by two to up by 11.
Perrantes finished with 19 points in the game, 13 of those in the second half. Three other Cavs finished the night with double digits: Brogdon had 20 points, Anthony Gill had 21 and Darius Thompson had 11.
