Dolce's St. Anthony's HS squad currently has a 5-1 record on the season and Dolce is a big part of it. "I'm not really sure how many tackles I have so far...I know I've got 3 sacks and over 30 tackles though," he told us.
Having made his commitment in the summer we asked Dolce if he'd been able to make it back to Charlottesville for any visits. "No I haven't been recently. Not since the summer. I'm planning to make a visit soon. It's just that their games correspond with my games. If I don't make an official during the season I'll definitely make one afterwards."
Even though Dolce has given the coaching staff a commit that hasn't stopped teams from recruiting him. Some may dislike the practice of recruiting players that are already committed but it's a big part of the recruiting world. John-Kevin told us, "Yeah Michigan State is still recruiting me pretty hard...one of their assistants just called me."
Given the relative freshness of situation we had to inquire as to what Dolce's commit status for UVa was. When asked for his status for the Hoos he quickly responded without any hesitation, "I'm more than firm to UVa. I know I won't be taking any other visits it'll be strictly to UVa."
Fresh off the victory over the #4 ranked Florida State Seminoles Dolce had quite a few statements and thoughts about the game that he offered. "You know that game just makes me want to be there even more. There's the urge to want to be down there now with those guys."
"I really enjoyed seeing all the guys play...everybody was playing good and they looked very fast on defense."
Although he'll have to wait another year before joining the rest of the team in Charlottesville there was no hiding his enthusiasm for becoming a future Cavalier.
Playing as a defensive end Dolce told us that there were areas in which he was going to try and focus his efforts on before arriving in Charlottesville. "I'm just trying to keep my versatility up...I want to keep my speed, strength, and my explosion up before I get there."
HooNation.com will continue to follow the season and status of John-Kevin Dolce as well as other fellow 2006 commits.
