A quick synopsis of his recruitment would be this...committed to Nebraska and after finding out his mother was sick he wanted to stay close to home so he decided to attend prep school because Nebraska didn't want to relase him from his scholarship. He continued to blow up on the AAU circuit and more prominent schools came calling. Early this summer he committed to UConn which was actually a good fit until the Huskies continued to recruit other players and informed him that his role had changed significantly in the program with other commits on board. The Huskies were professional enough to let him know so that he could look once again so schools once again started to recruit Will. Virginia was one of the early ones to contact him due to a previous relationship with assistant Rob Lanier when he was the head coach at Siena. Lanier and Leitao quickly went to visit with Will at Brewster Academy and set up a visit to Charlottesville. The rest as they say...is history.
The addition of Harris to a class that already has a multitude of versatility strengthens the fact that Dave Leitao will be able to recruit with the current upper echelon basketball schools for some of the nation's very best prospects. The signing of Harris will probably land Virginia in the top 25 of the class of 2006 team rankings.
HooNation will talk with Virginia's newest Cavalier Will Harris and his coach Jason Smith tomorrow to see just why the stud guard chose the Cavaliers and what his outlook for the future is.
