Virginia First to Offer

Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) linemen went down to visit the Virginia campus on Wednesday, and walked away with his first Division I scholarship offer. The offer has Brandon Sacco thrilled and HooNation.com caught up with him shortly after his visit.

Brandon Sacco is another standout player from Don Bosco Prep in northern New Jersey. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound lineman is hearing from Division I schools all around the country, and has been on visits to the likes of Pittsburgh, N.C. State, Rutgers, Boston College and UCLA. Today on his drive home from Charlottesville, Sacco informed HooNation.com that he picked up his first official scholarship offer from the University of Virginia.

"Today was a big day," said Sacco. "Virginia offered, hopefully that will start a trend. I was the only recruit on campus today so I got to spend a lot of one on one time with Coach (Ron) Prince and Coach Al Groh. Being that I was the only kid there Coach Groh was able to spend some extended time with me. He told me that they loved my film and want me to come play defensive end for the ‘Hoos."

So how high is Virginia on Sacco's list?

"They definitely have a bunch of things in their favor at Virginia. Their entire campus is amazing. Walking around everything was gorgeous. It is one of the nicest schools I have seen so far."

Sacco would know, having toured Pitt, N.C. State, Rutgers, Boston College, and UCLA so far. He also has a trip to Florida planned to visit some schools down there when school is out.

"Virginia is also the number one business school in the country, and that is going to be a major factor in my decision. They're a first class school with first class facilities. The field was probably the nicest grass field I have ever seen, it totally blew me away. They also had a locker room at the football complex and a locker room at the stadium, which was unique."

Sacco has been offered by Virginia to play defensive end, while Pittsburgh and South Florida are recruiting him to play either center or guard on the offensive side of the ball.

Sacco says his recruiting is "wide open" right now, and he is going to take his time and see what unfolds in the upcoming months. Virginia was first to get on board, however, and that can go a long way if other schools begin piling on now.

Brandon also has a visit planned this weekend to Penn State
