Seminoles Spear Deacs 31-0

Wake Forest fell to 2-2 on the season on Saturday as the Demon Deacons were defeated by Florida State 31-0 in Tallahassee.

After a humiliating 68-24 loss to Stanford a week ago, Wake Forest hoped to bounce back with a win over Florida State, a team the Demon Deacons had defeated each year since 2005. Unfortunately, the Demon Deacons were unable to do so as Florida State had their way on Saturday, winning 31-0.

After a week where the Demon Deacon defense was unable to stop Stanford, it was the Wake Forest offense that was unable to get going this week. The Demon Deacons amassed just 185 yards and was unable to put any points on the scoreboard against the Seminoles.

Tanner Price and Ted Stachitas combined for just 11-17 passing for 82 yards on the day. On the ground, Josh Adams led all Demon Deacon rushers with 38 yards on 10 carries.

"I think more than anything we were outmatched tonight," Jim Grobe said postgame. "There were some areas where we weren't good enough and Florida State is very talented. I was very impressed with the quarterback tonight - I thought Christian Ponder played very well. We weren't good enough."

While Ponder played well, the Demon Deacon offense was also unable to sustain drives, keeping the Wake Forest defense on the field most of the day. "The consistency in which [FSU's defense] played," FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said postgame. "They never got out flanked in the misdirection, in the tricks, in the fakes and all that stuff...The consistency in which they never got disoriented, they never got out of whack."

Wake Forest returns home next Saturday to face Georgia Tech at BB&T Field.
