South Carolina QB Names Two Leaders

Justin Knox helped lead Union to a State Title as a junior. Union lost some key players to graduation, but Knox is back and gunning for another title. He names two early leaders for his services on the next level.

Union High School in Union, SC is one of the top high schools in the south. While they are losing Eric Young, David Smith, and Curtis Rice to graduation this year, the cupboard will not be left bare.

Justin Knox is a quarterback that put up fantastic numbers last season. He passed for over 2,600 yards and 28 touchdowns and added nearly 700 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground. He is an excellent athlete, but he is being recruited first and foremost to play quarterback.

"There are a couple of schools that have talked about me playing some free safety or something," said Knox, "but I'm pretty much being recruited to play quarterback. I think I have a good ability to run when things break down, and I've gotten better and better at reading defenses. Things come quicker to me now."

The fact that Knox would say that reading defenses is a strength should come as no surprise; he is a 3.7 student and scored better than a 1,000 on his first attempt on the SAT as a sophomore.

"I'm most interested right now in South Carolina and North Carolina. Clemson would probably be number three, and I also like Wake Forest and NC State."

Knox had great numbers as a junior, and even with Smith graduating, he should match those numbers as a senior. He is an excellent athlete that comes from a powerhouse school, and he is a standout in the classroom. All of these factors make Justin Knox a player to watch for in the class of 2004.
