Harrell A Wanted Man

Montrezl Harrell his surfaced as one of the top priorities for Coach Jeff Bzdelik and Wake Forest. The super talented junior is off to a great start this season. DeaconSports spoke with Harrell about his season and recruitment thus far.

Eastern North Carolina has always produced fantastic basketball players year in and year out. The 2012 class is no exception. 6'7 forward Montrezl Harrell may very well be the best of the bunch.

Harrell is nothing short of a man child down low and has game out to the three point stripe. Harrel has been off to a fast start this season including a triple double of 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 16 blocks earlier this week.

"The season is going good so far," says Harrell. "We have a few things to tighten up but so far we are playing good."

Harrell is also a standout player on the gridiron but says the transition to basketball mode has been smooth.

"The transition hasn't been a problem. During the football season I was still working on my basketball skills."

Harrel has many skills he brings to the basketball court but maybe his most impressive attribute is his fierce competitiveness.

"I am a good rebounder and shot blocker. I really crash the boards hard. I am just a real high energy player and strong finisher."

On the basketball recruiting front, Harrell is getting his share of high major attention. "I don't have any favorites at this time but some of the schools I am considering are Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, and Miami."

Wake Forest has clearly made Harrell a priority and he has developed a good relationship with the Demon Deacon staff.

"I have a really strong relationship with the Wake coaches. It feels good knowing I am a top priority for them. I have talked to Coach Bzdelik a few times and I have a good relationship with Coach LaRue."

Harrell also stated he wanted to go somewhere that he will "get good coaching" and help prepare him for the next level. He also wants a chance to play early and needs to have a good relationship with the coaching staff.
