Washington Ready for Playoffs

Roanoke Catholic center Andre Washington has enjoyed a terrific junior season thus far and is prepared to help lead his team in the state playoffs...

Andre Washington and his teammates at Roanoke Catholic have played a very challenging schedule this season which makes their 12-10 record very deceiving.

"I think we can make a run in the playoffs," said Washington. "We have played a very difficult schedule this year full of higher division teams. I think that will help us when we get to the playoffs."

Washington was very forthcoming about facing high profile teams like Miller School, Oak Hill, and Benedictine.

"I love the challenge of playing against good teams with high profile recruits. I like to test myself and prove I am as good as anyone else."

Earlier this season, Washington visited Wake Forest for the first time and enjoyed his experience greatly.

"I really enjoyed my Wake visit. The campus was really beautiful and the players and coaches were very welcoming to me and my parents. I know the team is young but I think the future is bright at Wake."

Washington had been offered a scholarship by Coach Bzdelik and his staff and is a primary recruit for the Demon Deacons.

"It feels great to have an ACC offer. Coach Bzdelik has coached in the NBA and he feels I have NBA potential. That means a lot to me."

Washington plans to wait until after the summer to make a college decision but that is not set in stone.

"I talked to my dad about it and if I know I have found the right place for me I may go ahead and commit. The plan is to wait until after summer but who knows?"

Washington would be a terrific pick up for the Demon Deacons. He is a highly skilled center that had great timing on his block attempts. He has range out to the three point line and is a very good free throw shooter as well. Washington is a legit 6'11 and would add much need size and length to the Demon Deacon program.
