Deacons Add 2012 Center

Coach Jeff Bzdelik and his staff recently added to their 2012 class when center Andre Washington decided to become a Demon Deacon. Washington decided that he was ready to end his recruitment today and Wake Forest was the right place for him.

"I knew if I waited through the summer that I might get other offers but Wake just stood out," said Washington. "The academics at Wake are fantastic. Also they have a great basketball tradition with players like Chris Paul and Tim Duncan. I also have a great relationship with the coaches. Coach Battle was the first one to recruit me. Then Coach Pope and Coach Bzdelik came and saw me. I have a great relationship with all the coaches."

Last weekend, Washington felt he was ready to become a Demon Deacon.

"I told my dad last weekend I thought I was ready to commit. I thought about it this week and told him Friday that I was ready. I knew Wake was where I wanted to be."

"I can't describe how I feel right now. It is unbelievable. The players and coaches at Wake have been so welcoming."

Andre Washington adds a legit post option to Wake's 2012 class. He is currently 6'11, 215 pounds and has a 7 foot wingspan. He averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks per games last season for Roanoke Catholic.
