Mark Harrell takes in practice

Mark Harrell is a standout 2012 prospect in his home state of NC and gaining increasing national attention. With 16 offers and plans of choosing a school before his senior season begins, the offensive tackle will have a hectic but exciting summer to come.

"Things are running smoothly," said the 6-5, 260-pound athlete. "The amount of offers has come as a surprise for sure, but a pleasant surprise no doubt.

Harrell explained where he's hearing from most regularly of his offered schools.

"So far Notre Dame is recruiting pretty hard; and Auburn, Michigan, Chapel Hill, Clemson…UVA is a big one too," he said.

The athlete visited Wake Forest this past week for spring practice.

"I've visited Wake, and they've offered me," Harrell explained. "It was nice. I got to talk to Coach Grobe for a while and Coach Lobotzke a bit. My dad went there, so I'm really familiar with the school. Overall it was a really good experience."

Harrell also had the chance to attend Auburn's A-Day game this weekend.

"I loved A-Day game, and I like Auburn a lot," he said. "It's definitely a school I'm really interested in. The support there is unbelievable- I've never seen so many people out for a spring game; there were probably 60,000. They love their football down there, and it's a beautiful school."

Harrell will participate in the NC Shrine Bowl combine, attending the Nike football training camp, and he attended the US Army combine in San Antonio.

"Hopefully I'll be able to narrow it down before summer and make the right choice," he said. "I need to think about it for a couple of weeks, but I have a pretty good idea of which schools I like and what I value in them. My top five is coming soon for sure though; I want to have my decision before my senior season."
