Zach Gordon talks decision
"Oh man, it feels like a dream," Zach Gordon said. "It really does. I really couldn't be happier.
"I visited Wake last weekend, and I had really thought about committing when I got to campus but I kind of wanted to think about it some more. So I thought about it this week and realized that it was the right place for me, so I called Coach Knorr who recruits my area and committed to him. I'm calling Coach Grobe here in a little bit; they've all been very excited."
Gordon continued about his decision.
"Really the whole summer I had really been looking forward to checking out the campus and football program," he explained. "It's always been an interest of mine- football or otherwise, and I kind of stuck with it. I've thought about it a lot ever since they offered me during the springtime, so its been on my mind for a while."
In narrowing down his top five, Gordon had named, "Stanford, Cincinnati, Virginia, South Florida and Kentucky."
"I'd say Coach Knorr and also Coach Lobo played really big roles," he said. "They all did a great job of just selling their program, but also just talking to me. When they would talk to me sometimes they would just see what was going on in school and how my summer was going. It was definitely a personal relationship with all the coaches."
This past week was Gordon's first visit to campus but as he explained, "It was enough to seal the deal.
"I can't make another visit this summer because we start school in a week, but I'll for sure be up multiple times in the fall for a couple of games."
