Wake "Fit" For Drumgoole

Brandon Drumgoole became Wake Forest's second verbal commitment this past week when he committed to the Demon Deacon football program. DeaconSports spoke with Brandon Drumgoole earlier this week to find out why the defensive lineman from Ragsdale made Wake Forest his future school.

"I committed to Wake Forest so early because I talked to the coach and he said he was offering 16 scholarships and two others were defensive ends," Brandon Drumgoole said. "One had already committed and I didn't want to give up my chance to go to Wake if another one did. It is really a good school. It just fit."

Other schools that sent Drumgoole lots of mail before his commitment included in-state powers North Carolina State and North Carolina, and local school Elon.

Drumgoole said he has not spoken with the coaches in-depth, but he has been in contact with them – mainly to tell them of his verbal commitment. "I talked to [the Wake coaches] a little bit," Drumgoole said. "I talked to them and they said they look forward to me playing for them. Coach Grobe sounds like a nice coach and I know he's a good coach."

Drumgoole, who had 72 tackles, six for a loss, four caused fumbles, one fumble recovery, and six sacks, tells DeaconSports that he also plays basketball and runs track. In track, he performs the high jump, triple jump, and 110 hurdles.

This summer, Drumgoole will work out and attend a couple football camps. "I'm not planning anything major," Drumgoole said. "I'm just going to lift weights and get bigger. I'm 6'6", 220 now so I need to get bigger." Drumgoole will also attend a Shrine Bowl Combine as well as the Nike Camp in Blacksburg in the near future.
