Fabian Moreau visiting Wake Forest

Fabian Moreau, a 6-foot, 185-pound running back at Western High School in Florida's Broward County, is starting to set up his official visits. His first is to Winston-Salem, NC to see the Wake Forest campus on the weekend of December 9th through the 11th.

"I'm going to leave to go to Wake Forest on Friday," said Fabian Moreau. "I've developed a good bond with the coaches, especially with Ray McCartney, my recruiting coach. It's a school recognized for having strong academics. I also like that they're recruiting me at running back.

Moreau has offers from UCLA, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Western Michigan, FIU, and FAU. His two most recent offers came from Wake Forest and Western Kentucky. Moreau, however, says he's familiar with Demon Deacon football.

"I watched the FSU and Clemson games," Moreau said. "They've played great this season. They beat FSU who obviously has a great team and played Clemson, who just won the ACC, down to the wire. I was pretty excited when I received their offer."

Moreau accumulated more than 1,900 all-purpose yards rushing, receiving and returning kickoffs with 20 touchdowns.

"We had a pretty good season," Moreau said. "We went 5-4 and didn't make the playoffs, so we didn't reach a lot of our goals. I thought I had a nice year rushing. I ran the ball harder this year. In the off-season I got a lot stronger and faster. I became more of a leader and tried to do the best I could for our team."

Moreau had big games against West Broward (205 yards rushing with four touchdowns) and Everglades (189 yards rushing and a touchdown) during the course of the season in Florida District 12-8A. His big production in his second year as a starter has proven beneficial in much more recruiting attention than he had going into the season.

"I think I'm going to wait until January to announce where I'm going to college," said Moreau. "I'm probably going to take official visits to Vanderbilt and UCLA and hopefully Oregon. Oregon is my top choice, but I'm waiting to see if they offer. They're supposed to be letting me know."

Some colleges, like Wake Forest, see Moreau as a running back, while others like him more as a slot receiver or as an undefined "athlete." While he'd like to continue his career at running back, Moreau is first looking for the place that he feels is the right fit. That may very well be out of the Sunshine State.

"I don't mind leaving Florida," Moreau said. "In fact, I likely will. When I visit a campus I want to feel comfortable with the environment and the surroundings. I want to have a good bond with the coaches as well as the players. Early playing time is also a factor. The two biggest [factors] are academics and comfort level."

On December 23rd, Moreau will play in the Nike Miami-Dade vs. South Florida All-State game at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami. At Western, Moreau reports a 3.4 GPA with a 20 scored on the ACT. He wore No. 5 for the Western Widcats.
