2014 Intro: Kobie Walker

Kobie Walker is only a sophomore but he already has a couple of verbal offers. Walker plans to camp at Wake Forest this summer...

NC State and Wisconsin have seen all they need to see from Walker, a 6-4, 200-pound safety from Our Lady of Good Counsel, one of the top talent-producing schools in Maryland, on the east coast and nationally.

While you might look at Walker's frame and assume he's moving to linebacker, don't be so sure. A switch is possible, of course, as Walker could continue to grow. It's just not a given.

"I like playing safety," Walker told Deacon Sports. "It's easy for me. It helps being big. I can see everything that's going on so that's beneficial."

NC State and Wisconsin aren't the only schools that know about Walker, of course. Wake Forest is one of many schools that are tracking the Class of 2014 prospect's development.

In fact, Walker is tentatively planning to camp in Winston-Salem this summer but he doesn't know much about Wake Forest yet. "We haven't talked but I know I'm going up there with a couple of friends," Walker said. "I'm really close with my old coach so me and him are going to a whole bunch of camps this summer and one will be at Wake Forest."

While there hasn't been communication between the Deacs and Walker that doesn't mean there's no interest. Contact is strictly limited when it comes to high school sophomores and besides, Walker is still new to the recruiting process.

So far Walker has been to four schools: Maryland, Temple for a spring game, Penn State and Virginia Tech.
