Deacs offer Georgia QB

Wake Forest is looking for another quarterback in the Class of 2013 and another offer has gone out. The Deacs are the latest to offer Joshua Dobbs, a 6-3, 190-pound quarterback from Alpharetta, Georgia.

Dobbs has seen his stock rise significantly of late with offers from Duke, Boston College, Arizona State and Illinois. The Blue Devils have also given him a baseball scholarship and Dobbs hasn't ruled out playing that sport in college. It's unlikely that he would try to be a two-sport star in college.

"Wake Forest offered me (on Wednesday)," Dobbs told DeaconSports late this week. "Over spring break I took a trip up there and got a chance to sit down with the coaching staff. I got a chance to see the campus and it was great."

On Wednesday Dobbs was talking to assistant coaches Elrod and Galloway. That's when he found out about the offer from Wake.

"It's a great school academically and they have a great football program," he explained. "It's one of the top schools in the nation and football-wise they've had a strong program."

Dobbs also recited a statistic that you can bet the coaches preach when they're out recruiting.

"It's the last school from North Carolina to win an ACC championship," he noted. "They're doing good things on the football side."

Dobbs, a three-star prospect, said he doesn't have any visit plans for the foreseeable future. He's in the middle of baseball season at Alpharetta and probably won't be able to hit the road for more visits until after that's over.
