DE Gross giving Wake a look

Wake Forest seems to be surging with a three-star defensive end from Maryland. That's the word from the rising senior himself.

Marvin Gross, a 6-3, 220-pound hybrid linebacker/defensive end from Dunbar in Baltimore (MD) has been hearing from schools both near and far over the course of his recruitment. Lately he's been paying a lot of attention to a school in North Carolina, largely because they've been showing a lot of interest in him.

"Wake Forest has really been recruiting me hard lately," Gross said this weekend. "They've been talking to me a lot."

Gross has never been to Winston-Salem so he's mostly just listening to the pitch the coaches are offering him.

"They've been educating me on the school and how prestigious it is," Gross said. "They've talked about the degree they offer and everything like that. I think it's Derrick Jackson that I've been talking to."

It seems the next order of business would be an unofficial visit. That may just be a matter of time.

"Oh yeah, I'm definitely planning to visit close to the end of the summer. I have to fit that into my schedule because I'll be busy but I'm definitely going to visit Wake Forest," he said.

Gross said he doesn't have any favorites but he's getting closer to the time when he will start to narrow things down.

Though listed as a defensive end Gross said many schools have told him he could play linebacker in college. That's especially true of the schools that run a 3-4 set.

"Most schools have said I'll do more pass rushing than dropping," he said.
