Deacs will make cut for Helms'

Cory Helms is one of the few pure center prospects in the high school football ranks that will accept a scholarship offer next February. Helms already has a lot to choose from and the three-star lineman from Alpharetta (GA) Milton has one from Wake Forest.

What does the summer have in store for Helms?

"The two visits I have already planned are Wake Forest [this past] and South Florida the next weekend," Helms said. "I haven't been to either school yet."

Those two schools, it turns out, are in great shape with Helms.

"Hopefully I can make my decision over the summer but if not I'll just wait a little later," he said.

"Wake Forest will definitely make the cut and South Florida is one that may."

While that doesn't necessarily mean the Deacs are the frontrunner for Helms it sure seems like they're in good shape and at least have the potential to land him.

What have they done to impress him so much thus far?

"Just the fact that I've got good relationships with two of their coaches, Coach Galloway and Coach Himebauch.

"They contact me all the time and I really like stuff like that."

Helms cites the level of competition, location, relationship with the coaches and the environment at the school as the four factors he will consider in making his college choice.

He doesn't want to make a decision until he takes a few visits over the summer. Another reason is he believes more offers are coming from schools like Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Arkansas.

Helms has 10 offers in total and said he will not camp at any schools this summer.
