Salmon updates his recruitment

Wake Forest has relied heavily on Florida talent under Jim Grobe and no one expects that to change anytime soon. The Deacs have plenty of offers out to Floridians from the Class of 2013, including one to Devyn Salmon, a 6-1, 283-pound defensive tackle from Plant City.

Salmon has put together an impressive offer list and it's only going to continue to grow. While he's dividing his attention pretty evenly between the schools that have offered Wake Forest has made a strong pitch.

"I got that offer about a month, maybe a month and a half ago," he said. "I was talking to one of their coaches and he was telling me what a great kid he thinks I am."

What does Salmon think about Wake Forest?

"That's one of my top schools. I've been doing a lot of homework on them and that would be a very prestigious school to go to. I love Wake Forest right now.

"I'm going to a school where I've got a great relationship with the coaches. I want to be able to get early playing time and academics are important too. I think Wake Forest has all of that."

Salmon plans to make his decision sometime early in his senior season at Plant City, so he won't be waiting too much longer.

The Deacs will have to jump at least one school to land Salmon.

"Iowa State is number one," he said. "I love their coaches for one. I was just talking to them the other night and I love their program. I get along with Coach Rhodes really well.

"Number two would be either Wake Forest or Memphis."
