Rivers holds two offers

Wake Forest is one of two schools to offer this rising senior receiver from the Lone Star State. As you might expect the Demon Deacons are on his short list...

However, it seems they have a little ground to make up. Wake Forest isn't out of the running with Eric Rivers, a 5-9, 170-pound receivers from Arlington (TX) Bowie, but the Deacs need to work fast to move up his list before his decision.

"I'm planning on going to Iowa State during the summertime," Rivers told Deacon Sports this week. "I don't know about any camps yet but I should be going to a few camps too.

"I would say my favorite right now is probably Iowa State. I like how they get the ball to wide receivers and let you run with the ball. They'll do a lot of those bubble routes and things like that."

Rivers' two offers are from Wake Forest and Iowa State. While he doesn't have any plans to visit Winston-Salem he does hope to get to the school eventually.

"I haven't heard from them quite as much as I've heard from Iowa State so that's one reason I haven't (set up a visit yet)," he said. "I have talked to them over the phone and I'd be interested if they talked to me a little more."

The day Wake Forest verbally offered Rivers was an interesting day to say the least, and one he will not likely forget anytime soon - for a couple of reasons.

"It was the day there were a lot of tornadoes in the Dallas area. We had been in the locker room and afterwards, after all of that, I found out Wake Forest had offered," he said.

While Rivers said he will likely attend camps this summer he also said he's not hoping for offers from any schools in particular. He hopes to make his decision before the start of his senior year.
