MacDougal Selected as MLB All-Star

Former Wake Forest Pitcher and current Kansas City Royals closer Mike MacDougal was selected to represent the American League in the 2003 All-Star Game Sunday.

MacDougal, who played for the Deacons from 1997-1999, became only the second Kansas City Royals rookie to be selected to the All-Star team. A closer, MacDougal currently holds a 2.72 ERA and is tied for the American League lead in saves with 24.

The 2003 All-Star Game will be held July 15th in Chicago. Meanwhile, Mike MacDougal's team will continue to battle in the American League Central. The Royals currently lead the Division, 3.5 games ahead of the Minnesota Twins.
