Brooks Foster of Boiling Springs (SC) is a big time playmaker in both football and basketball. During his junior year "Showtime" (his nickname) had 30 receptions for 700 yards and six touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists on the hard court. He bench presses 275-pounds and squats 435-pounds. He has a 38-inch vertical leap. Foster has an outstanding 3.7 grade point average.
Foster spoke to TheInsiders.com about what he is looking for in his college choice and who will help with his decision.
"I want to be in a good atmosphere. I want to try to play both sports. I don't want to be too close to home, but I don't want to be too far away either. My family will have an influence on it, but it's my decision."
Foster has a growing list of official offers as well from some very good football and basketball colleges.
"South Carolina, Wake Forest. I'm going to the Georgia camp this Friday and they said if I come they will probably offer me."
Georgia is Foster's current leader at the present time. He spoke about what stands out about the Bulldogs.
"They are real good in both basketball and football and I like their coaches."
Foster said that he would like to end his recruiting in the near future with a commitment, but was unsure of when that decision might come. He wants to major in business or something in the computer field.
Foster is the type of player that could make an immediate impact at a University such as South Carolina. If he holds off on an early decision the Gamecocks should have an excellent shot at retaining his services. With a world-class business school and football and basketball teams that seem very close to busting out onto the national scene. A player with ability could easily see early playing time. Dave Deguglielmo is recruiting him for the Gamecocks and Foster appears to have a great deal of respect for Coach DeGuglielmo.
