Dixon planning WFU official visit

Rayfield Dixon isn't as recognizable as a few more publicized defensive backs from Florida but the schools that are recruiting him like what they see -- including the Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest would fall into that category. The Deacs have been recruiting Dixon for months now, and the two-star prospect is claiming an offer. At 6-2 and 190-pounds, Dixon has excellent athleticism for his size. He could conceivably grow into an outside linebacker in college. This fall the Loxahatchee (FL) Seminole Ridge athlete will see some time at linebacker, as well as time at receiver and safety.

He and Seminole Ridge defeated South Plantation 35-20 in their Kickoff Classic and the regular season has just about arrived.

So have official visits.

"I know I'm going to Wake Forest but I'm not sure when yet. I've got to talk to my mom about getting there. I'm planning on that as soon as I talk to my parents," he said. "I know I'm going to go to West Virginia sometime but I don't know that date yet. I'll be at Purdue for the Wisconsin game."

Dixon clarified and said each of those visits will be officials and he's not sure if he will take his other two. Why is he so anxious to get out to Wake?

"I already took an unofficial visit to Wake Forest before and when I was up there it felt real good," he explained.

"Their coaching staff believes in the same things as my coaches here. It feels like it would be an easy transition because it's similar in how they teacher and what they teach their players.

"Also, the team. I was talking to the teammates up there and they had nothing but good things to say about the coaches. I saw how they were working in the weight room and I sat with them when we were watching film. Everything was real organized."

While it sounds good for the Deacs now Dixon said he's still keeping an open mind.
